Education for Ministry

Facts:

Each EfM class must be educationally and financially viable, and maintain an effective learning environment where all students may participate. To maintain this goal classes must have a minimum of six students and a maximum of twelve students.

Students enroll for one year at a time. There are a limited number of scholarships available through the diocese. Students can also borrow enrollment fee and return payment over a specified period. Some parishes have an EFM scholarship account. Check with the mentor.

The annual fees (currently $340.00) contribute to the cost of EfM materials and help with the training of mentors.

EFM groups in this diocese will have one mentor or two co mentors. Mentors are not teachers or tutors they are facilitators who encourage sharing and learning together as a group.

What will EfM do for me?

The academic content of the course is rigorous and captivating. EFM through a process known as Theological Reflection (TR) enables us to focus on what we read in the scriptures and encounter in the world. We are brought to an awareness of our cultural backgrounds and the biblical traditions, using them to examine our personal assumptions (Positions) and personal behaviors (Actions). We draw on the experiences and reflections of the whole group as we seek to reach a deeper, understanding of our issues, making each day more meaningful.
